 I am running for Union President at meeting

We will win the RIGHT to INFLUENCE EDUCATION in New Orleans. We need Real Input into the process of schooling. Teachers must be treated as RESPECTED and EQUAL professionals by Administrators and Board Members, just as Lawyers, Doctors and even Cosmetologists.

Teachers are professionals who must have DECISION-Making for their profession.TEACHERS MUST BE TREATED EQUALLY in RSD, CHARTER, and NOPS schools. We must have input and agreement with Paul, Vallas, Paul Pastorek, and the BESE board on many topics.

Herewith is an 11 point platform:

!. Equal compensation per hour for all teachers.

2. Fair Administration with a common contract (just like the common student application for schools)

3. Teacher involvement in school decision-making

4. Due Process

5. Technology in every room (phone,internet,projector,computer,overhead) with teacher keys to unbloc sites and keys and locks for every classroom.

6. Adequate teacher supply budget ( teachers given a $500 credit card beginning each year )

7. Teacher directed policies to address: poor student performance, discipline, testing, workloads, professional development

8.Closer union coordination with members,colleges, other community based organizations, business, and unions.

9. More teacher Appreciation and awards. (Teacher Events supported by the school system with Fancy lunches and dinners like those provided out of public funds for administrators and academic coaches)

10. Budget control with seats on the budgetary committees and pre/post budgetary review.

11. Professional administraion with: no fly-by-the-seat-of-pants, arbitrary treating of teachers as expendable commodities with no rights, input or protections.

THE MOTTO: RIGHT ON  (much like Obama’s - WE CAN )
